Ocean view cabin 6221 on Ambassador Ambience is a remarkably spacious, traditional outside cabin featuring exceptional storage options, a full walk-in style wardrobe area, and a bright picture window. While the styling is somewhat dated and the shower curtain is classic, the generous layout and excellent value make it a fantastic choice for British cruisers.
What to Expect from Cabin 6221 on Ambassador Ambience
After dozens of cruises and hundreds of days at sea across various lines, we have learned that a ship's marketing photos do not always tell the full story. Step inside cabin 6221, however, and you are immediately struck by just how generous the floor space is.
Ambassador Ambience is a classic cruise ship (formerly Regal Princess), meaning her cabins were built during an era when personal space was far more generous than on modern megaships. Walking down the entrance corridor, you get an immediate sense of openness.
To your right as you step inside, you will find a handy card slot on the back of the door to notify your cabin steward if you want your cabin made up, along with the safety muster map. On the opposite wall sits an absolute monster of a mirror, which is brilliant for getting ready in the evening or taking a quick pre-dinner photo.

This is our cabin tour and review of Ambassador Ambience 6221 Outside Cabin. During our recent British Isles cruise (April 2023) on Ambassador Ambience we stayed in an Outside/Oceanview cabin, 6221. We have put together this tour in the hopes of it being useful and we hope it gives you a clear indication of what amenities Ambassador Cruise Line cabins have to offer.

Layout, Space, and That Incredible Storage
If there is one area where this Ambassador Ambience ocean view cabin completely blows modern cabins out of the water, it is storage space. We reckon you could pack for a three-month grand voyage and still have empty drawers left over!
Open Storage & Wardrobe Area
Just past the entrance, there is a dedicated open shelving unit with pool towels ready for use. Adjacent to the bathroom is a classic walk-in style wardrobe setup that provides plenty of room for hanging clothes, alongside an upper storage rack. Inside the main wardrobe cupboard, you will find:
Two adult life jackets neatly stowed away.
A digital safe that is surprisingly deep (though do note, it will not fit a standard laptop).
An endless run of deep wooden drawers that allow you to unpack fully without needing to cram things in.
Bed Configuration and Main Cabin Area
The bed can easily be configured as two single twins or pushed together to form a double bed. Simply ask your cabin steward if you prefer a double setup.
Flanking the bed, you have proper bedside units containing deep four-drawer chests and individual reading lamps. The air conditioning unit is controlled via an old-school wall dial, which is simple and faff-free to adjust to your preferred temperature.

Desk Area, Amenities, and British Comforts
As a British cruise line aimed at traditional travellers, Ambassador has catered very well to British tastes in the main living space.
The vanity unit comes equipped with proper tea and coffee making facilities, complete with a kettle, mugs, and a selection of teas and coffees. We certainly made good use of this for a morning brew!
Power Outlets
When it comes to charging your gadgets, the desk features:
1x Standard UK 3-pin socket
1x Integrated USB charging port
1x US-style socket
We recommend bringing a small multi-plug adapter or a UK travel adapter plug if you have multiple devices to charge each night.
Desk Features and TV
The vanity unit also houses a fixed desk lamp, another set of four deep drawers (where you will find tissues stowed), a new hairdryer that works cracking well, and a landline telephone. A second huge mirror hangs above the desk area, keeping the cabin feeling bright and airy.
Near the desk, you will find a small table, a soft chair, and a chargeable bottle of water on a small tray.
Above the seating area sits a wall-mounted television. It is admittedly on the small side and offers a fairly limited selection of channels. You will also want to mind your head on the TV bracket when standing up from the chair!

Bathroom Facilities and Shower Review
Step into the bathroom, and you are greeted by a surprisingly good-sized space. While the aesthetic is traditional with a rustic wood-effect touch, it is functional, spotless, and comes with brilliant storage tricks.
Storage and Vanity
The bathroom features a large main mirror, hand wash, two drinking glasses, and two face cloths placed by the sink. Press on the mirror panels, and you will discover hidden medicine cupboards behind them, providing handy storage for your personal toiletries. Underneath the sink, there is extra space housing spare toilet paper, extra hand towels, and a bin.
The Shower Experience
The shower enclosure is a solid size, though it does feature a fabric shower curtain. Inside the shower, you will find:
Wall-mounted 2-in-1 shampoo and conditioner dispenser
Dedicated body wash dispenser
A retractable clothes drying line for wet swimwear
A small corner shelf and soap dish for your own products
A Quick Practical Tip: The shower water temperature can be a bit temperamental on occasion. It takes a bit of fine-tuning with the dial to find the sweet spot between hot and cold, but once dialled in, the pressure is perfectly fine.
Ocean View Window: Is an Outside Cabin Right for You?
This was actually our very first time staying in an outside ocean view cabin rather than our usual balcony or inside cabin, and we were genuinely impressed.
Having that natural light flooding in every morning makes a massive difference to your mood. On our itinerary around the British Isles, the weather was rather wet and windy on several days. Having a large picture window meant we could sit back with a cup of tea and enjoy watching the sea and coastal views in warm comfort, without feeling like a balcony was going unused due to the rain.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 11 nights in cabin 6221. It is spotlessly clean, amazingly spacious, and offers practical comfort that makes extended sailing a real pleasure. We would happily book an outside cabin on Ambassador Ambience again in a heartbeat.
Our top tip for this cabin: Pack a 3-way British plug adaptor or a multi-USB hub. While having a UK socket and a USB port at the desk is a great touch, having a multi-plug ensures you can charge all your phones, cameras, and watches simultaneously without fuss.
