his is our cabin tour and review of Ambassador Ambition 9120 Outside Cabin. We were invited to board Ambassador Ambition for a 2 night, Taste of Ambasador cruise, that went from Bristol to Tilbury. We stayed in an Outside/Oceanview cabin, 9120.

First Impressions & Space: Deck 9 Living
Stepping into Cabin 9120 on Deck 9 (Consulate Deck), the first thing that struck us was just how bright and open the space felt.
Ambition entered service with Ambassador Cruise Line in 2023 following an extensive refurbishment, having originally debuted in 1999 as Festival Cruises' Mistral.
Despite her classic heritage, this outside cabin felt remarkably fresh, airy, and practical from the second we walked through the door.
Upon entry, you will find the safety instructions mounted on the reverse of the door, alongside the primary light switch and a generous full-length mirror, ideal for checking your formal night outfits.
Unlike many modern ships where you find yourself constantly side-stepping your travelling partner, there is plenty of room to move around.
When arranged in a twin configuration, the gap between the two single beds is unusually wide, leaving ample open floor space to unpack without tripping over each other.
A large picture window fitted with full curtains lets in plenty of natural daylight, making the cabin feel noticeably larger than a standard inside stateroom.
Storage & Wardrobes: A Cruiser's Dream
If there is one area where this cabin completely shines, it is the storage. Modern ship builds often cut down on wardrobe depth and drawers, but here the space is spot-on.
Twin Full-Size Wardrobes: Two full-length hanging wardrobes provide plenty of coat hangers for dresses, jackets, and trousers, along with your emergency adult life jackets.
Shelving & Drawers: A third dedicated storage cupboard offers three deep shelves, three built-in drawers, and laundry paperwork.
Bedside Units: The twin bedside tables each house their own set of deep drawers, topped with separate reading lamps.
Hidden Cupboard Storage: Above and below the television, you will find additional cabinetry. The upper cupboard houses the digital room safe (roomy enough for an iPad or tablet, though a standard 15-inch laptop will struggle), while the lower cupboard neatly stores two blue pool towels, two cosy cabin throws, and an extra European socket.
We reckon you could easily pack for a fortnight-long sailing around the Norwegian Fjords or the Mediterranean and still have empty shelves left over.

Vanity Unit, Power Sockets & Odd Quirks
Directly opposite the beds sits a sturdy vanity desk equipped with a large wall mirror, hair dryer, and your hospitality tray.
Underneath the desk, you will find a compact yet reasonably powerful hair dryer resting on side shelving, leaving the desk surface clear.
For connectivity, the cabin is fitted with a versatile charging station:
2 x Standard UK 3-pin plug sockets
1 x European 2-pin socket
2 x USB charging ports
1 x Additional European socket hidden inside the lower TV cupboard
While having native UK sockets and built-in USB ports without needing bulky travel adapters is a cracking bonus, the placement is somewhat bizarre.
The main plug cluster is fitted on the front edge of the vanity desk directly below the counter rim.
When you sit down on the stool to do your hair or charge your phone, the plugged-in leads and transformers press directly into your stomach.
You cannot comfortably tuck yourself into the desk, which is a mildly annoying design quirk to keep in mind if you plan to sit and work.
Another notable omission compared to her sister ship, Ambience, is the lack of an in-cabin mini fridge.
If you require cold storage for medication, you will need to notify guest services ahead of your sailing to make arrangements.
Air Conditioning: Ambition vs Ambience
Temperature control can make or break a cruise holiday, and the system in Cabin 9120 is controlled by a manual rotary dial placed above the desk.
In our cabin, the air conditioning blew consistently cool and crisp throughout our stay.
For us, that was ideal, as we prefer sleeping in a cool room.
However, if you feel the cold easily, you might find the cabin running slightly on the chillier side, so packing an extra layer or making good use of the supplied fleece throws is sensible.
Having sailed extensively on both vessels, we have to say that Ambition’s climate control wins hands down over Ambience, keeping the room far fresher.

The Bathroom: A Rare Glass Door (With One Catch)
Stepping into the en-suite bathroom reveals one of the best surprises of this ship: a fixed glass shower screen.
So many older vessels rely on clingy fabric shower curtains that stick to your back, so having a clean, solid glass enclosure on a ship of this vintage is fantastic.
The shower cubicle is a reasonable size, featuring two integrated wire racks for your toiletries, a retractable washing line, and complimentary dispensers for shampoo, conditioner, and body wash.
The vanity basin includes a bright illuminated mirror with a built-in shaving circle, dedicated dual-voltage shaver sockets, and lower open shelving for spare bath towels.
There are plenty of hanging points too, including a towel rail, individual wall hooks, and three sturdy hooks behind the bathroom door.
However, that solid glass shower door creates one practical headache.
Because the glass panel is fixed and does not bend, the physical clearance to reach the toilet is exceptionally tight.
The loo is wedged directly between the glass shower frame and the sink vanity, making it a bit of an acrobatic manoeuvre to sit down or get back out.
While it did not bother us excessively, anyone with mobility difficulties or of a larger build may find the tight squeeze frustrating.
Is It Worth It?
Without question, booking an Ambassador Ambition outside cabin offers exceptional value for money for traditional cruise enthusiasts.
Ambassador Cruise Line caters primarily to British cruisers looking for classic sailing without paying premium fares, and this cabin category punches well above its weight.

Our time in Cabin 9120 on Ambassador Ambition left us thoroughly impressed.
Between the superb storage options, comfortable twin beds, and the rare treat of a proper glass shower screen on an older vessel, it provided a relaxing haven to return to after a busy day on board.
Our top piece of advice when packing for an outside cabin on Ambition is to bring an angled USB lead or a multi-port extension adapter.
This avoids bulky plugs sticking straight into your waistline while sitting at the desk, making your stay completely faff-free.
