Virgin Voyages marked a major milestone this week as Brilliant Lady, the brand’s newest ship, made her debut at Pier 90 in New York City. More than 4,000 guests were welcomed onboard, as the cruise line officially entered the northeast market with a celebration that matched the city’s energy and spirit.

The event transformed the Hudson River waterfront into a Virgin-style spectacle, featuring the brand’s legendary Scarlet Night, immersive performances and a showcase of the new food and spaces debuting on Brilliant Lady. Sir Richard Branson was in attendance alongside celebrities, professional athletes, influencers, video creators, media and loyal Virgin Voyages fans as New Yorkers embraced the opportunity to explore what has made Virgin Voyages the World’s No. 1 Cruise Line for three consecutive years.

“This ship feels like a boutique hotel at sea,” said one guest from New Jersey. “I’ve cruised before, but nothing compares to this. The design is stunning, the food was incredible – especially the new Spanish restaurant – and you can feel the energy everywhere you go.”

Another guest, a Brooklyn local, highlighted the convenience of Virgin’s market expansion. “I’ve always wanted to try Virgin Voyages, but the idea of flying to Miami was a hurdle. Having a ship right here in New York makes it so much easier. It feels like Virgin brought the experience to us.”

The launch also introduced a fresh lineup of entertainment, including new productions and interactive performances designed to surprise and delight. Guests moved seamlessly from Champagne bars to outdoor lounges to chic theater spaces that brought Virgin’s bold, kid-free spirit to life.

"It was a fabulous event. What really struck me was the beautiful & modern design on every part of the boat. The bars were beautifully designed & chic,” said Amy Brightfield, Features Director, Better Homes & Gardens. With gorgeous tile floors & mid-century modern furniture, the “hang out” spaces felt very upscale with a Mad Men/Miami/Buena Vista Social Club vibe. I also loved the chic & sophisticated vibe on the outdoor decks by the pools."
