Southampton is set to sparkle this Christmas as Visit Southampton's much-loved festive favourites return to transform the city into a winter wonderland.

A Christmas market, (12 November to 27 December 2026), will feature alpine-styled chalets, selling hand-made gifts and sweet treats and there will be pop up bars for festive get togethers. Families will be able to visit Santa and his elves in his cosy Winterland Grotto and a free festive musical light show will illuminate the city’s historic Bargate monument each night.

The festive fun extends to Guildhall Square, which will be featuring both thrill-seeking and family-friendly rides. An indoor ice rink will pop-up on the Esplanade at Westquay, set against the backdrop of the city’s historic city walls, and a free festive trail and map will guide families past beautifully designed snow scenes in windows across the city.

No Christmas day out is complete without a trip to the theatre, and Southampton’s Mayflower Theatre & Mayflower Studios have family-festive entertainment covered, with shows including the Pantomime Robin Hood, the Peter Pan musical adventure and The Very Hungry Caterpillar Christmas Show.
