Island Princess

Island Princess in Falmouth, UK

Island Princess launched in July 2003, with the ship being specifically designed to navigate the historic Panama Canal.

The Island Princess measures 294 meters in length and has a gross tonnage of 92,822 tons. This mid-sized ship is well-suited for travellers seeking a more intimate and personalised cruise experience, accommodating approximately 2,200 passengers in a variety of staterooms, including interior cabins, ocean-view rooms, balcony staterooms, and luxurious suites. The ship's relatively smaller size compared to modern mega-ships allows it to access ports that are off-limits to larger vessels, offering a more diverse range of itineraries.

Onboard, Island Princess features a wealth of amenities designed to cater to a wide array of interests and preferences. For those who enjoy more formal dining, the ship offers several dining options, including the elegant Provence and Bordeaux main dining rooms, which serve great cuisine in a traditional setting. Specialty restaurants include the Bayou Café & Steakhouse which now serves a traditional Steak House menu, and Sabatini's which offers an enjoyable Italian dining experience. Casual dining options are also plentiful, including the Horizon Court buffet, the Patisserie for specialty coffees and pastries, and the Poolside Pizzeria and Grill.

Entertainment is a key highlight of any cruise, and the Island Princess does not disappoint. The Princess Theatre hosts Broadway-style productions and live performances, ensuring there is always something to entertain guests. For a more relaxed evening, passengers can enjoy movies under the stars at the outdoor cinema or unwind with a drink and live music at one of the ship's many lounges and bars, such as the Explorers Lounge or the Wheelhouse Bar.

Island Princess also boasts an impressive array of recreational facilities. The Lotus Spa offers a range of treatments and therapies, providing the perfect sanctuary for relaxation and rejuvenation. Fitness enthusiasts will appreciate the well-equipped gym and fitness centre, which offers panoramic ocean views. The ship features two swimming pools and several hot tubs, providing ample opportunities for a refreshing dip or a relaxing soak.

For those who enjoy intellectual pursuits, the ship's library and writing room offer a quiet retreat, while there are enrichment opportunities with lectures, workshops, and classes on various topics throughout the ship. The onboard boutiques offer a range of duty-free shopping, and the art gallery showcases a diverse collection of artworks, with auctions held throughout the cruise.

Families are well catered for on the Island Princess, with dedicated youth and teen centres offering a range of activities and programs designed to engage younger passengers. The Treehouse, The Lodge and The Beach House provide a safe and entertaining environment for children and teenagers to make new friends and enjoy age-appropriate activities.

In summary, the Island Princess offers a comprehensive cruising experience, combining a variety of accommodations, diverse dining options, top-notch entertainment, and a wide range of recreational and enrichment activities. Whether you are seeking relaxation, adventure, or cultural immersion, Princess Cruises Island Princess promises an unforgettable journey across some of the world's most captivating destinations.
