  1. La Cité de la Mer: This maritime museum is located in an old transatlantic terminal and offers an immersive experience into Cherbourg's naval past. It also has a section dedicated to World War II, highlighting the city's role as an important naval base during the conflict.

  2. The Liberation Museum (Musée de la Libération): Situated in the nearby town of Quinéville, the Liberation Museum focuses on the D-Day landings and the subsequent Battle of Normandy. It provides insight into the challenges faced by the Allied forces and the local population during the liberation of Normandy.

  3. Utah Beach: This historic beach, part of the Allied D-Day landings on June 6, 1944, offers visitors a chance to see the remains of the Mulberry Harbour, an artificial harbor used by the Allies to support their troops during the Normandy campaign.

Cherbourg and UTAH Beach on Ambassador Ambience

On day 10 we were docked in the port of Cherbourg, France. We had booked an excursion to visit a number of World War 2 historic sites on the Normandy coast, including Utah Beach and Sainte-Mère-Église.
