After dozens of cruises and hundreds of days at sea across various lines, we have learned that a ship's marketing gloss doesn't always match the reality onboard. Cabins look immaculate in promotional brochures, but real-world functionality is what truly matters when you are living in the space for a week or more.
Is an MSC Preziosa interior cabin worth booking? A Deluxe Interior cabin on MSC Preziosa offers surprising generosity when it comes to floor space and storage. While the decor feels slightly dated and power sockets are limited, the clever bathroom design and overall square footage make it a good value, budget-friendly option for cruise passengers.
First Impressions & Layout: Cabin 12248
Stepping into our Deluxe Interior cabin (Stateroom 12248 on Deck 12, top side near the forward elevators), the first thing that struck us was the sheer amount of floor space. Inside cabins on older ships can often feel tight, but this room felt surprisingly open and easy to move around in.
Upon arrival, our beds were set out in a twin configuration. We simply asked our cabin steward to swap them over to a double, which he happily sorted for us before we went to bed on night one.
On the bed, we were greeted with a set of towels, our daily program, two bathrobes, and slippers. Each side of the bed features a dedicated bedside table with two drawers, a telephone, and individual reading lamps.

Power Outlets, Mirrors, and Storage Realities
If there is one area where MSC Preziosa shows her age (having originally launched back in 2013), it is the power setup.
There are no USB ports anywhere in the room, and you will not find any plug sockets near the bed. You will need to charge your phone or camera gear on the main dressing table, so packing a non-surge multi-plug adapter is an absolute must.
Where this cabin truly shines is the storage space. You get four massive wardrobes. One houses a generous digital safe and deep drawers, another is packed with deep shelving, and the remaining two offer plenty of hanging space with plenty of coat hangers. If you need extra hangers, your room steward can easily provide more.
Underneath the beds, there is tons of clearance to slide your large hardshell suitcases completely out of sight.
Dressing Desk, Seating, and the Mini Bar Trap
The living area includes a small armchair, a side table, a stool under the desk, and a wall-mounted TV. The desk features a hairdryer inside the drawer, standard glasses, an ice bucket, and routine paperwork.
Important Note: You will not find a kettle or tea/coffee-making facilities in the cabin, which is standard practice across most European cruise lines like MSC.
Underneath the desk sits the mini bar fridge, packed with cold drinks and snacks. Be extra careful here: even if you have purchased MSC's top-tier Easy Plus or Premium Extra Drinks Package, mini bar contents are almost never included. Anything you take from that fridge will end up on your onboard bill. You can, however, ask your steward to clear the contents if you prefer to use the fridge for your own water.

Bathroom Tour: The Glass Door Hack
The bathroom on MSC Preziosa was a proper highlight for us. Unlike many older ships that stick you with a clingy, wet cloth shower curtain, MSC fitted these cabins with solid glass shower doors.
The absolute best feature in the bathroom is the folding shower doors. When you aren't using the shower, the glass doors fold completely inwards toward the shower wall. This instantly frees up extra floor space near the sink and toilet, making the bathroom feel massive. It is a brilliant design trick that we haven't seen on many other cruise ships.
You get built-in dispensers for body wash and shampoo in the shower, as well as a pull-out drying wire for damp swimwear. The only slight snag we experienced was that our wall-mounted hand soap dispenser by the sink remained empty for the duration of our cruise, meaning we had to grab soap from the shower stall to wash our hands.

Comfort, Noise, and Decor Observations
We spent a full week living in stateroom 12248, and overall, it was a very comfortable stay. The bed was spot-on, and we had zero issues getting a solid night's sleep after long days in port.
The decor features a bold orange scheme (orange carpets, matching wall art, and settee accents). While bright orange wouldn't necessarily be our first choice for room styling, MSC rotates different colour schemes across decks, so other cabins feature blues or deep reds.
The only minor drawback we noticed during our week onboard was cabin creaking. When the ship encountered light sea movement, a few ceiling panels tended to rattle and creak, which was occasionally a bit annoying during the night. However, given the price point of an interior cabin, it certainly wasn't a dealbreaker for us.

We absolutely love the fantastic value of staying in an inside cabin, but waking up in complete, pitch-black darkness at 8:00 AM can completely disrupt your body clock.
There is nothing worse than turning on a harsh light switch first thing in the morning and completely blinding yourself.
Our ultimate inside cabin hack is bringing a sunrise simulation clock. You simply set your wake-up time, and the lamp gradually increases its brightness from 10% to 100% over thirty minutes, mimicking a natural dawn.
It is an absolute game-changer for waking up feeling properly refreshed and ready for a busy port day.
