Our day is FULL OF SURPRISES in ISAFJORDUR! ENCHANTED PRINCESS - DAY 9 VLOG

During Day 9 of our Enchanted Princess Norway and Iceland cruise we visited the port of Ísafjörður! It is a town in the Westfjords region of northwest Iceland. It's known for its dramatic landscapes and it did not disappoint! We were both completely shocked by what was inside the Ísafjörður Culture House.

Here's a brief travel guide to help you make the most of your visit:

  1. Getting There: You can reach Ísafjörður by air or road. If you prefer flying, there are domestic flights available from Reykjavik to Ísafjörður Airport. The flight itself is a scenic journey over Iceland's dramatic landscapes. Alternatively, you can opt for a road trip, which will take you through beautiful countryside and mountainous terrains.

  2. Exploring the Town: Ísafjörður is a small town with colorful houses and a cozy atmosphere. Take a leisurely walk through the town to admire the local architecture, visit quaint shops, and interact with friendly locals. The harbor area is particularly charming and offers fantastic views.

  3. Westfjords Heritage Museum: Dive into the history and culture of the region by visiting the Westfjords Heritage Museum. Learn about the area's maritime history, traditional crafts, and the way of life in this remote part of Iceland.

  4. Outdoor Activities: Ísafjörður is a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts. Depending on the season, you can enjoy hiking, birdwatching, fishing, kayaking, or even skiing in the nearby mountains during winter. There are numerous trails and paths to explore the beautiful surrounding nature.

  5. Vigur Island: Take a boat trip to Vigur Island, located in Ísafjarðardjúp fjord. It's a peaceful island known for its rich birdlife, including puffins and eider ducks. The charming, well-preserved historical buildings add to the island's appeal.

  6. Dynjandi Waterfall: While technically not in Ísafjörður itself, a visit to Dynjandi Waterfall is highly recommended. This majestic waterfall is one of Iceland's most impressive and is accessible by a scenic drive from Ísafjörður.

  7. Local Cuisine: Enjoy the local Icelandic cuisine in Ísafjörður. Try some traditional dishes like fresh seafood, lamb, or the popular Icelandic hot dog. You can find various restaurants and cafes offering delicious and hearty meals.

  8. Northern Lights: If you visit during the winter months, Ísafjörður offers a great chance to witness the mesmerizing Northern Lights. Away from the city lights, you can experience the magical dance of the auroras in the dark skies.

Remember that Ísafjörður is a remote destination, so it's essential to plan your trip in advance, especially if you're visiting during the winter months when weather conditions can be more challenging. Whether you're seeking adventure, tranquility, or a glimpse of Icelandic culture, Ísafjörður has something special to offer. Enjoy your journey!
